The How and the Who

“The secret things belong unto the Lord our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.”

Deuteronomy 29:29

Nothing can get a round and round discussion going faster than when two people begin to discuss how God did something.  Ask anyone how old the Earth is, or how it was created without searching the Scriptures, and watch the path to nowhere begin.  People get so wrapped up in arguing, or discussing, irrelevant matters we begin to lose focus of what the Bible is truly about.  Science should be viewed as man’s study of God’s Creation and everything in it, not man’s attempt to prove or disprove the methods and existence of God.  Creation bears witness to a Creator.  If God wanted us to know something about how He did this or that, He would have revealed it to us in detail through His Word.  Any “how” that is not answered in the Bible should tell us that it is not very significant in the grand scheme of things. However, God reveals to us the greatest secrets and mysteries in the Bible of how to have a loving relationship with Him.

The only “how” we need to ask and understand is how to have a relationship with God.  How do we have a relationship with God?  The answer is the acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior Who willingly laid down His Life for us so we may live a Newly Resurrected Life through Him.  There is no separating the “how” from the “who.”

“According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue”

2 Peter 1:3

The only answer to the “who” question is Jesus Christ.  Who can redeem us to God? The answer is Jesus Christ.  Who is the Bible about?  The answer is Jesus Christ and Him Crucified.  The Bible is essentially the story of the rise, fall, and the redemption of mankind.  The Old Testament pointed to the coming of Jesus and what He would do for us at the Cross.  The Epistles in the New Testament pointed back to what Christ did for us at the Cross.  At the center of it all, we have the Gospels where Jesus went to the Cross and gave up His Life for our Salvation.   As Jesus Christ and Him Crucified is the center of the Bible, it should be forever the center of our hearts.

God reveals the secrets of His Character, His Love, and His Plan of Redemption for us through the Person and Sacrifice of Jesus Christ at the Cross of Calvary.  Through the Humanity of Christ, God shows us what we can truly be when we have the constant leading of the Holy Spirit, living our lives according to the Word of God, and seeking the Will of God through prayer.  Jesus Christ was, and is, God’s Word Incarnated in the flesh.  Looking to Jesus as the Author and Finisher of our faith is all we will ever need to reflect the life of Christ to those around us and live an abundant life with the Lord forever by our side.

It is no longer a secret what God can do for us.  God held nothing back through the revelation of His Only Begotten Son.  He has revealed the greatest secret of all and gave us the answer through the giving of His Son Jesus Christ.  The revelation of Christ and all that He has done for us belongs unto us forever and our children forever.  His revealed Presence in our hearts leads us through the wilderness of life into the Promised Land of Glory with the Word of God in our hands, forever in our hearts, and eternally in our minds.
