The Four Proposals of Compromise

September 17, 2021
“And the Lord spake unto Moses, Go unto Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Let my people go, that they may serve me.”

Exodus 8:1

Satan will do all that he can to get the Believer from going all in with God. We cannot have one hand in the world and the other in Heaven. There is no compromise with God. The Bible teaches separation from the world and never compromising with its ruler.  Like Moses and God’s People of Israel (Believers), here are four proposals of compromise by Pharaoh (Satan) to keep God’s People in bondage to Egypt (the world):

1.     “And Pharaoh called for Moses and for Aaron, and said, Go ye, sacrifice to your God in the land.”

It is Satan’s trick that the Believer be not only in the world, but, as well, of the world.

2.     “And Pharaoh said, I will let you go, that ye may sacrifice to the Lord your God in the wilderness; only ye shall not go very far away: entreat for me.”

As Believers, we must never forget that one of the great themes of the Bible is separation.

3.     “Not so: go now ye that are men, and serve the Lord; for that ye did desire.”

Every Believer should ask for, and claim, Salvation for the entirety of his family.

4.     “And Pharaoh called unto Moses, and said, Go ye, serve the Lord; only let your flocks and your herds be stayed: let your little ones also go with you.”

Every Believer should not allow Satan to have any part of one’s possessions.

Egypt must be left behind, before the nature of holy worship and pure living can truly be learned. Authentic Christians are called to be a bright and steady witness for a crucified and risen Jesus Christ. The Cross of Christ has not only put away the Believer’s sins, but also forever dissolved our connection with the world. We are to regard the world as a crucified thing, and to be regarded by it as a crucified one.

“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”

Galatians 2:20

It stands with the Believer and the world – the world is crucified to him and he to the world. This is the real, dignified position of every true Believer. This position in Christ, and not of the world, will guarantee a life free of compromise with Satan and release from all his bondages.

We are to stand our ground, keep believing that what Jesus did at the Cross is sufficient, and keep commanding the Evil One to flee. God has made known to us the triumphant outcome of good over evil. Instead of compromising with the fiery darts of compromise from the Evil One, we ought to rest on the assuring Promise that “The God of Peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly.” (Romans 16:20).
