The Author

“And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him”

Hebrews 5:9

“This is my story; this is my song…”

The old hymn “Blessed Assurance” teaches us that our story in life begins the moment we come to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Our story starts with a death to self and a Divine, Supernatural re-birth in the Holy Spirit where we are “Born of His Spirit, washed in His Blood.”  The end of our story will conclude with a new beginning, a new body, and a new life in the Glory of the Holy Spirit as a Glorified, Resurrected Saint of God forever in the Presence of Jesus.  Like most great stories that have a beautiful beginning and a glorious ending, it is the middle chapters of our life in Christ where things get a bit interesting with all the conflicts and struggles. Our testimony here and now, prepares us for the Resurrection to come.

It may be hard to understand at times, but our Salvation story is being written by the Hand of God with the Holy Spirit turning the pages to help us prepare for and overcome what is next.  On one page, we may have the biggest mountain directly in front of us that seems impossible to overcome.  However, if we keep going, keep believing, and keep hoping through faith, that same mountain of difficulty can be cast into the sea and put far behind us at the turn of a page.  The glory of our story is not in the wavering unknowns, but in the unwavering known.  The unwavering known is that Jesus Christ is alive in us. His Power to Save, Heal, and Deliver will be with us through every up and down in our life.

“In all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”

Romans 8:37

The greatest part of it all is Jesus revealing more and more of His Closeness to us through each new chapter we overcome.  If we will keep actively seeking and pursuing Him through the messiest of messes, Jesus will reveal more of His Strength and Wisdom to us through the Holy Spirit.  The Lord wants to remind us we are never left alone for a single moment to fend for ourselves.  In our weakest times, Jesus is our strength.  In our darkest times, Jesus is our Light. The Lord brings remembrance to our victories with Him, not our shortcomings without Him.

Our story through this life is not about our own perfection or imperfection, but the Perfection of Jesus Christ.  He is the Perfect Redeemer, the Perfect Sacrifice, the Perfect Savior, and the Perfect God because of His Perfect Love towards us.  Like most love stories, the best part is the end.  Unfortunately, we must go through the good and bad times before get there.  We should have nothing to fear.  If we know and believe that Jesus Christ is the Author and Finisher of our Salvation, He will write the story of our life that ends with a loving embrace the moment we see Him face to face in the Glory of Heaven.  What we endure today is only a part of a greater story that is being told at the Throne of Heaven at this very moment.
