Tearing Down the Strongholds

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds”

2 Corinthians‬ ‭10:4‬ ‭

The greatest battle for us as Christians is tearing down strongholds that Satan has setup in our lives. Strongholds come in various forms, but the main cause of strongholds in our life is sin.

Sin goes beyond something we do wrong. Sin is a power we must overcome daily. Most of the time sin sets a stronghold in our life when we take our eyes off of God and use worldly means to combat problems caused by sin. Unconfessed sin causes the Christian, to not only stop having the morals of Jesus, but also halt our Sanctification that helps us become like Christ.

We search high and low to find the answer to the sin problem, but the only answer to sin is the Power of God. This is why Paul says, we cannot overcome sin with carnality, but by the weapons of spirituality.

What are the weapons we use to defend against Satan setting up strongholds in our lives? Faith, Worship, Prayer, and the Scriptures are what we need to pull down strongholds, as well as protect ourselves from Satan setting up new ones in our lives.

Faith applies the Blood of Jesus Christ to release us from the penalty of sin. Worship places God on the Throne of our hearts that removes the dominion of sin. Prayer engages the Power of God to break the power of sin. When faith, worship, and prayer are prevalent in our lives, the Scriptures become the Sword of the Spirit that tears down the stronghold of sin. When Satan comes proclaiming lies and luring us into temptation, we fight Him with the Truth of God’s Word as Jesus did in the wilderness. Like Christ, we need to not only know the Scriptures, but believe in every word that proceeds out of the Mouth of God.

Satan does not wish to linger where Faith, Worship, Prayers, and belief in God’s Word rule the Christian heart. With Jesus Christ ruling and reigning over our heart, we are covered in the Grace of God where His Promises are unbreakable and our hope is unshakable.
