“The house of the righteous shall stand.”
It seems like the church, and in our own lives, we are constantly trying to build a house for the Lord made of sticks and stones that will not stand. The reality is that we are the ones in need of a house. The house we need is a spiritual house built within our heart that only God can provide. The house that only the Lord can build within us is a righteous house. The house God builds in our heart is built according to the blueprint of the Word of God. God, the Great Architect of life, builds our righteous house to stand the test of time and withstand every adverse condition that life will sling our direction.
Proverbs 24:3-6 provides us with a materials list:
“Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches. A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.”
- Understanding builds the house and establishes it
- Knowledge fills the house
- Jesus Christ and Him Crucified is the foundation
- The Holy Spirit helps us to receive wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to build the house and keep it clean
“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock”
Our house will only stand if it is built upon The Rock, who is Jesus Christ, and His Eternal Word with the Cross as its foundation. His Blood holds and binds it all together as we become a new creation, a brand-new housing place for the Presence of the Lord. Knowledge of Jesus and understanding all that He accomplished for us at the Cross of Calvary, allows us to be an open channel for receiving the infinite Wisdom of God through faith. Only then can we become a pure, wise, strong house of righteousness that is built for the service of the Lord and to bring glory to His Name.
Our house that is built on the Wisdom, Power, and Righteousness of God will stand firm through the rains, through the floods, through the howling winds, and every storm that life will throw our way. The esthetics of the outside may take some bruises and some damage along the way, but the inside will be safe and secure from all alarms.
