Draw Near

December 31, 2021
“Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.”

James 4:8

The Holy Spirit works to draw us nearer and closer to the Cross of Jesus Christ.  The closer we are drawn to the Cross, we see a clearer, broader picture of our Lord and all that He means to us.

It is at the Cross where we meet Jesus Christ whose blood was shed for the Salvation of our souls.  His Precious Blood washed away the shame and guilt that held our hearts captive, releasing us from the power of sin and its penalty.

Though we are saved and redeemed at the Cross, it is when we are drawn nearer to the Cross, we begin to realize we are kept by the Cross.  From Salvation to Rapture, our entire walk with Christ is found when we lay our lives down at the foot of the Cross where the Blood of Christ makes the sinner clean, and the saint continually cleansed.

The Holy Spirit will never let us lose sight of Jesus Christ.  The Spirit of God within us seeks to draw us nearer to the Blood Pierced Side of our Lord and Savior.  At His side, the Power in His Blood holds us and bind us together with Him in a Perfect, Holy Union that nothing, or no one, can ever separate us from.  It is in that Perfect Union with Him we hear the voice of Jesus Christ speaking His unfathomable Love and Devotion to us.  In His embrace at His Blood Pierced Side, the Lord reminds us daily to, “Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid for I am with thee.”  In the Arms of our Savior is the safest, most comforting place we can ever find ourselves.  In His Arms, there is no fear, darkness, or loneliness, but the blessed illuminating assurance of calmness and communion forever with Him.

Let our soul look up at Jesus with a steadfast hope and allow our imperfect will to be lost in His Perfect Will for our lives.  Our life belongs to Jesus Christ.  He has poured out His Perfect, Holy Life out unto each one of us so our lives may be totally, and completely hidden in Him.  We are joined together with an eternal embrace held together forever by the Blood of our Blessed Savior Jesus Christ today, tomorrow, and forever.

Hymn: I Am Thine, O Lord

Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.
