As God Comforts Us, We Should Comfort Others

June 24, 2022
“Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.”

2 Corinthians 1:3-5

Day after day in our personal lives we encounter a new day with new tribulations. Nevertheless, we are blessed to face the day’s trials head on and overcome the day with a renewed sense of God’s Mercy and Comfort.  Whether in the calmest of waters or through the most chaotic storms in life, Jesus Christ speaks His Word of comfort and solace to us in every moment.   Jesus never leaves us to ever fend for ourselves.  His Hand is upon us night and day, His Eyes are always watching over us, and His Word never ceases to speak to our desiring hearts regardless of our condition in life.

God’s Word takes our eyes off the circumstance and places our focus on His Glorious Presence and His Saving Grace.  It is easy to let circumstance dictate faith, but it is faith in Christ, and our eternal victory in the Cross, that dictates the circumstance.  Circumstance and condition will vary, but faith positioned in the Cross never wavers and never fails.  Faith placed properly in the Cross of Christ ensures us the Resurrecting power and comfort of the Cross as Jesus Christ Himself has already endured our suffering and tribulation for us at the Cross.  Jesus has already taken the trials and tribulations of our lives upon Himself so we can bask in the Glory of His Victory!

Regardless of whether we are on this or that end of the chaotic dysfunction of life, through every moment whether up, down, good, or bad, we have the consolation of the Cross of Christ.  The victory of the Cross is the “Peace, be still” of eternal life, eternal victory, and eternal comfort in the Perfect Life of Jesus shed abroad in our imperfect hearts to make the ups and downs of life not so bad after all.

It is our Salvation that gives us the blessing of never having to “do life” alone.  Spiritually we are upheld and comforted by the Presence of Jesus Christ in our hearts.  Socially we are upheld by our brothers and sisters in the Lord that we are blessed to share this life with daily.  As the Lord speaks His Word of consolation into our hearts during our time of trial, it is our duty as the Family of God to speak the comfort of the Word of God as the means to comfort others as God has so graciously comforted us.  We need a reminder of our victory in Jesus.  It is up to us to remind others of their victory in Jesus Christ as well.  We do life together in fellowship with one another, in The Fellowship of God, through the Saving Grace of Jesus Christ, and His Love for us that will bring us all through together!
